Lockdown in Accra, Tema, and Kumasi

nyaho workers 2

On the 27th of March 2020, the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, announced a mandatory lockdown of certain parts of the country as part of measures in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. Whilst we acknowledge the complexities and difficulties that will arise from executing this mandate, we understand that this reflects the seriousness of the situation in which we find ourselves and we are in support of the public health initiatives that are being put in place to contain the spread of Covid-19.

As a healthcare institution working in coordination with the Regional and District Health Offices, Nyaho Medical Centre will continue its operations at our Airport and Octagon sites. However, given the circumstances of the lockdown, we will only be providing essential services which will include Emergency, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology, restricted GP and Family Medicine, Inpatient, Surgical and Critical Care services. To find out more about our restricted clinic schedules, please visit our website at www.nyahomedical.com

We implemented New Ways of Working (NWoW) for our employees as part of our Business Continuity Plans and our response to the Covid-19 pandemic. As our employees are exempted from the lockdown restrictions, with regards to moving to and from work, we want to assure you that we will still be observing the lockdown directives as best as we can. Our core teams in HR, Finance, IT, and Sales and Marketing will be working from home and we will be working remotely to offer guidance and support to all our clients with regards to billing, claims processing and payments. These will continue to be reviewed whenever there is any significant change in the public health strategy.

I understand that these are uncertain times, and as such, there will be a level of anxiety and fear that will persist no matter how prepared and skilled we are. I want to encourage and remind you that courage does not come in the absence of fear but comes despite the presence of fear.

I have seen frontline health workers, from the doctors, nurses, orderlies, cleaners, security men, and customer experience employees stepping up to the task of playing their part to screen, test, and treat patients. At Nyaho Medical Centre, they embody our symbol of hope, the dove, in being beacons of hope for all who are in need of healing.

Please join me as we show our gratitude and appreciation to this particular group of people who are showing up boldly as we fight the spread of Covid-19.

Together, as a community, I am confident that we will get through this stronger and more resilient than ever.
