The Endoscopy Suite is fully equipped for Upper GI investigations and other specialized areas and has a nine-member medical team with a serene lounge to keep clients in a relaxed state, pre and post-procedure.

 What is Endoscopy ?

Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure used to examine a person’s digestive tract. Using an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, doctors can view pictures of patients’ digestive tracts on a TV monitor.

During an upper endoscopy, an endoscope is easily passed through the mouth and throat and into the esophagus, allowing the doctor to view the esophagus, stomach,  upper part of the small intestine and various parts of the digestive tract.

Who needs an endoscopy?

Doctors will often recommend endoscopy to treat a digestive tract problem, look for the presence of a disease or evaluate any of the following:

·         Stomach pain

·         Ulcers, gastritis or difficulty in swallowing

·         Digestive tract bleeding

·         Changes in bowel habits (chronic constipation or diarrhea)

·         Growths in the colon

Endoscopy may also be used to detect active bleeding from an ulcer and stop the bleeding using devices passed through the endoscope.

Types of Endoscopy

Nyaho Medical Centre’s Endoscopy Suite caters for investigations in other specialized areas such as hysteroscopy (examination of the uterine cavity), cystoscopy (examination of the bladder) and oesophagoscopy (examination of the interior of the oesophagus).
