Inquiring, imaginative and optimistic minds filled the National Theatre on April 23, 2016 to listen to accomplished speakers share their passions, dreams and ideas under the theme “Re-Think”.
Dr. E. C. Tamaklo was among an impressive line-up of speakers for the TEDxAccra 2016 grand finale. His 13-minute delivery was about Believing in Better where he shared his passion and beliefs about everyone having the ability to do better, to enable us live better and longer, irrespective of where one is born or lives.
Prior to Dr. Tamaklo’s presentation, TEDx sought to tease out what inspired his presentation:
“I believe my words can inspire and spark hope in those who resonate with my journey…
Building trust requires putting patients first; it requires teamwork and collaboration; it requires a perseverance to learn and do better. This is our mission, to influence healthcare for the better, maintaining the trust that has been placed in us.
I have seen people looking for solutions in all manner of places, only to find disappointment at the end of their search. In some circumstances, disappointment resulted in death, but in others, there was a tremendous sense of frustration in knowing that things might have been different if they had been born in a different country. I am not satisfied with this kind of injustice, and I am not content to become a voyeur in this loss.”
TEDxAccra is the largest annual event of its kind in Ghana with an audience of over 1,500 sharing and discussing innovative insights and creative ideas from different backgrounds – social activists, entrepreneurs, historians, scientists, explorers, technologists and artists. The idea is to use the TED-like experience as a platform to equip and inspire participants (including the wider virtual audience) into boundless possibilities.
